International Basic Search Awareness and IED Recognition

This 1 - 2 Day course provides students who have no previous subject knowledge or experience,
with a basic knowledge of the threat from Improvised Explosive or Incendiary Devices (IED/IID’s)
and recognition of their component parts. The action to be taken on discovery of a suspect package, postal device or upon receipt of a bomb threat. The course can include basic search procedures and be tailored to meet client specific requirements and personnel, Security, Reception, Post Room, Fire Wardens etc. Candidates will be expected to sit a 2 part exam upon completion of the training.

Successful completion of the course will result in the academic awards of an Edexcel/SQA qualification and Strings/T2P International Technical Certificate.

Terrorist devices, recognition and Method of Attack
Effects of Blast
Action on receipt of a bomb warning or discovery of a suspect package
Postal Devices
Telephone Bomb Threats
Basic Search Procedures - Client specific (Person, Vehicle, Building, Site & Perimeter, Route etc)
Introduction to Basic Search Equipment
CBRN Response
